Free online audio converter

Convert any audio file to MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG or FLAC without installing anything. Your file is converted on your own device, so it is private, fast and free.

Runs in your browser. Your files are never uploaded.

Browser limit: your device does the work, so very large files (over about 1.5 GB) can run out of memory. Phones are best for shorter recordings.

How it works

How to run the audio converter

  1. 1Drop an audio file onto the box, or tap it to choose one from your device.
  2. 2Pick the output format and, for MP3, M4A and OGG, the bitrate. 128 kbps is a good default for speech and 192 kbps for music.

  4. 4Play the result to check it, then download it.

FAQ

Common questions

How do I convert audio to MP3 online for free?

Drop your file on this page, choose MP3 as the output format, pick a bitrate and press Convert. The conversion runs in your browser, so there is no upload, no account and no watermark.

Are my audio files uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion happens on your device using your browser. The file is never sent to our servers, which also makes large files quicker because there is nothing to upload or download.

Which audio formats can I convert between?

You can open most common audio and video files (MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, FLAC, WebM, MP4, MOV and more) and save them as MP3, WAV, M4A (AAC), OGG (Vorbis) or FLAC.

What bitrate should I choose for MP3?

Use 96 to 128 kbps for voice recordings, 192 kbps for everyday music and 256 to 320 kbps when you want the best quality from a lossy file. Higher bitrates make larger files.

Does converting audio reduce the quality?

Converting between lossy formats such as MP3 and M4A always loses a little quality, so keep the original when you can. WAV and FLAC are lossless, so converting a WAV to FLAC keeps every sample.

How do I convert WAV to MP3 to make a file smaller?

Open the WAV file, choose MP3 and a bitrate such as 128 kbps. A typical WAV shrinks to roughly a tenth of its size as an MP3, which is why MP3 is the usual choice for sharing and uploading.

Are there file size limits?

The limit is your browser and device memory, not our server. Files over about 1.5 GB can run out of memory, and phones handle large files less well. For big files use a computer and keep the tab open.

How do I convert M4A to MP3?

Open the M4A file here, choose MP3, pick a bitrate such as 128 kbps and press Convert. It works the same for AAC, OGG, FLAC and WAV files.

What is the best free audio converter with no watermark?

A browser-based converter such as this one adds no watermark, needs no install and does not upload your file. It also has no daily limit, because your own device does the work.
