FreeAudio & Mic Studio
Extract audio from video
Pull the sound out of any video and save it as an MP3, WAV or M4A. Perfect for music, interviews, lectures and podcasts, and it all happens on your device.
Runs in your browser. Your files are never uploaded.
Browser limit: your device does the work, so files up to about 500 MB are the safest. Files over about 1.5 GB can run out of memory, and phones may struggle with large videos. For big files, use a computer and keep this tab open.

FAQ
Common questions
How do I extract audio from a video file?
Drop the video on this page, choose MP3, WAV or M4A and press Extract audio. The soundtrack is separated from the video on your device and offered as a download.
Can I extract audio from an MP4 and save it as MP3?
Yes. Open the MP4, select MP3 as the output format and choose a bitrate. 192 kbps keeps music sounding good, while 128 kbps is plenty for speech.
Is it free, and are my videos uploaded?
It is free with no watermark, and your video is never uploaded. The extraction runs in your browser, which keeps private recordings private.
Which video formats are supported?
MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI and most other common formats work. If your browser cannot read the file directly, the tool falls back to a built-in engine that handles almost everything.
How do I get the best audio quality?
Choose WAV for a lossless copy, or MP3 at 256 to 320 kbps when you need a smaller file. You cannot add quality that was not in the video, so the source sets the upper limit.
Can I extract audio from a video on my phone?
Yes, on a current version of Safari or Chrome. Pick the video from your library, extract the audio and save it. Very long videos work best on a computer.
Are there file size limits?
Files up to about 500 MB are the safest. Videos over about 1.5 GB can run out of browser memory, and phones may struggle with large ones. Use a computer for big videos and keep the tab open.
How do I extract audio from a video on a PC or Mac?
Open this page in any current browser, drop the video, choose MP3, WAV or M4A and press Extract audio. There is nothing to install on Windows or macOS.
Can I rip the audio from a screen recording or Zoom meeting?
Yes. Drop the recording you saved, extract the audio as MP3 or WAV, and use it for notes or send it to the audio transcript tool for a written copy.
