FAQ

Common questions

The page says no controller found.

Browsers only reveal a controller after a button press. Press any button, and if it still fails, reconnect it or try a different USB port or cable.

What is stick drift?

Drift is when a stick reports movement while you are not touching it. The drift check records the resting value of every axis and reports any that stray from zero.

Which controllers are supported?

Anything exposed through the browser Gamepad API: Xbox, PlayStation, Switch Pro and most generic USB gamepads.

How to test controller online?

Connect your controller by USB or Bluetooth, open this page and press any button so the browser detects it. The page then shows every button, trigger and stick axis live. Press each one and check that it lights up and the values change smoothly.

How can I test my controller?

Plug in or pair the controller, then press a button on it while this page is open. Move both sticks in full circles to check for drift, squeeze the triggers, and press each button. Anything that does not respond, or a stick that does not return to zero, points to a fault.

How to test a controller on a PC?

Connect the controller to the PC with a USB cable or over Bluetooth, open this page in Chrome, Edge or Firefox, and press a button. The test reads the controller through the browser's Gamepad API, so no driver or app is needed beyond what your system already uses to recognise the controller.

Is there an app that can test my controller?

You do not need an app. This online controller test works in your browser on a PC or Mac with no download. Windows also has a built-in game controller panel, and Steam has a controller settings screen, but a browser test is quicker and shows button, trigger and stick values in one place.

How do I run a controller vibration test?

Connect the controller, press any button so the browser sees it, then press Test rumble. You should feel both motors for about a second.

Guide

Controller Test: what it checks and how to read it

Controller vibration test

Once your gamepad is detected, press Test rumble to run a controller vibration test. The page sends a short dual-rumble effect to both motors. Vibration works in Chrome and Edge for most Xbox and PlayStation controllers over USB or Bluetooth. If the buttons work but nothing vibrates, check that vibration is enabled in the console or system settings, or try a cable. For a phone, use the phone vibration test.

Stick drift check

Release both sticks and press Run drift check. The test records the resting value of every axis for two seconds and flags any that stray from zero by more than 0.10. A drifting stick will move your camera or character without any input.
