FreeAudio & Mic Studio
Podcast transcriber
Turn a full podcast episode into a readable transcript with paragraphs, timestamps and top keywords. Built for long audio, free to use, and processed on your own device.
Your audio never leaves your device. The speech model downloads once and is cached.
Browser limit: episodes of an hour or more work on a modern computer, but files over about 1.5 GB can run out of memory and phones are best for short clips. Long audio takes a while, so keep this tab open and your device plugged in.

FAQ
Common questions
How do I transcribe a podcast episode?
Save the episode as an audio file, drop it on this page and press Transcribe podcast. The long recording is handled in blocks, and you get a readable transcript with paragraphs and timestamps.
Why should podcasters publish transcripts?
Transcripts make episodes searchable, accessible to deaf and hard of hearing listeners, and indexable by search engines, which can bring new listeners from Google. They are also the raw material for show notes, blog posts and social clips.
How long can the podcast be?
Episodes of an hour or more work on a modern computer. Long audio is processed in blocks and takes time, so keep the tab open and plug in your laptop. Phones are best for shorter clips.
Are my episodes uploaded?
No. Unreleased episodes, guest interviews and client work stay on your device. The speech model runs in your browser and nothing is sent to us.
Can it separate speakers?
Not yet. The transcript groups text into paragraphs by pauses and shows timestamps, so you can add speaker names while you proofread.
Can I paste a podcast link instead of uploading?
You can try an audio URL in the optional link box, but many hosts block direct downloads from other sites. If that happens, download the episode and drop the file instead.
Are there file size limits?
Episodes of an hour or more work on a modern computer, but files over about 1.5 GB can run out of browser memory. Phones are best for short clips. Keep the tab open and your device plugged in during long jobs.
How do I create show notes from a podcast transcript?
Transcribe the episode, scan the top keywords and timestamps for the main topics, then write a short summary, chapter markers and pull quotes. Link the resources you mention.
What is the best free podcast transcription tool?
For privacy and no minute limits, a tool that runs on your own device is a strong choice. Accuracy is highest with clear audio, so record each guest close to a microphone.
